An Evening with MacKenzie Bourg
Friday, November 6 · 6–10 PM · Charley G’s
Join us at Charley G’s for an evening of live piano with Lafayette’s own MacKenzie Bourg.
MacKenzie’s path to music was anything but ordinary. A competitive high school basketball player, he was forced to leave the court when a virus led to congestive heart failure and an induced coma. During his recovery, his fingers were too weak to play the guitar his uncle had built for him, so he sat down at the piano and began writing songs. He’s been hooked ever since.
That turn toward music led him to NBC’s The Voice and then to FOX’s American Idol, where he reached the Top 4 on the show’s farewell season performing his own songs. His debut single, “Roses,” released through Big Machine Records, debuted at No. 3 on the iTunes Overall Chart and No. 4 on the Billboard Rock Chart. His follow-up, “Little Moon,” was featured on SiriusXM’s The Coffee House and broke into the iTunes Top 50.
“I’m not drawn to anything else the way I’m drawn to music,” MacKenzie says, and you’ll hear it in every note.
Enjoy dinner, a glass of wine, and an intimate night of music from one of Acadiana’s most celebrated voices. Reservations are recommended.
